Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade has finally been proclaimed dead yesterday. It was gathered that the monarch died since 28th July, 2015 but the Ife Traditional Council rebutted media reports insisting that the Oba was alive.
The Oba's son wedded in the heat of the rumours of his father's death.
The head of Oro Cult, Oba Layi Adereti revealed that the rites for the transition of the deceased would begin and advised that residents should stay indoors while the rites last.
The Governor of Osun state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, officially annouced the death of the Oba and described him as an embodiment of culture and tradition. The Ex Governor of Abia state in a tribute refered to the monarch as a man of peace.
